I am a literacy consultant, educator, and doctoral student (one year left!) with experience supporting literacy improvement at the classroom, school, and district levels. Throughout my career, I have worked alongside teachers, administrators, and educational organizations to translate literacy research into practical instructional practices that improve student outcomes.
As a former literacy coach with the Idaho SMART Reading Project, I supported more than 100 teachers through professional development, instructional coaching, data analysis, and implementation of evidence-based literacy practices.
My background most importantly includes being a mother to a wonderful little boy who struggled to learn to read. Due to my experiences supporting him, I have been an elementary teacher, provider of literacy resources, educator trainer, and curriculum evaluator. Most importantly, I work to make a difference in students' lives.
Through Ziel for Literacy LLC, I partner with schools and organizations to strengthen literacy instruction, support students with dyslexia, and build sustainable systems that help all students become successful readers and writers.
